Let’s explore the green fiber value chain (Ramie) and the production process that meets international standards to conquer the global fashion market.
What is Ramie?
Ramie fabric is the oldest natural fabric in the world, environmentally friendly and extremely durable, possessing many outstanding advantages:
– Natural white color and soft, smooth, elegant luster
– Ability to resist bacteria, mold, UV rays, and insect attacks naturally.
– High absorbency due to its large hollow structure
– Maintains a good shape and does not shrink.
– 8 times stronger than cotton and 7 times stronger than silk.
Vietnam – One of the richest Ramie growing regions in the world
Vietnam is located in the tropical region near the equator, with a mild climate all year round, suitable for the development of the green fiber value chain. Through selective research and breeding of green fiber varieties to achieve high productivity and quality, local authorities provide support, each farmer is provided with support for seedlings, harvesting machines, and guaranteed purchase of dried Ramie fabric from the green fiber production plant in Thanh Hoa, the exclusive production in Southeast Asia.
The international standard Ramie fiber production process
Spring is the best time to plant seeds in the fields, the Ramie fiber value chain in Vietnam has developed to over 6000 hectares currently and is aiming to expand to 20,000 hectares across the entire territory of Vietnam.
The areas where Ramie is grown in households are ensured of 3 factors:
- Mild climate
- No residual chemicals and heavy metals
- Far from factories and industrial zones
Each year, farmers harvest 4-6 times, each crop yielding 1-1.2 tons, for every hectare, farmers can earn up to 60-80 million VND per year after deducting production costs, we always ensure fair and transparent trade with each farmer.
After peeling and drying to the standard dryness level, the dried Ramie fiber bark is bundled, taken to the factory warehouse for sorting, preservation, and serving the processing of Ramie fiber.
The best quality dried Ramie fibers, after removing impurities, are taken to the glue separation pot area – the first step in the journey to transform rough dried green fibers into smooth white fibers. With advanced technology and state-of-the-art machinery imported from Germany, Italy, China, the largest green fiber production industry in Southeast Asia, unique in Vietnam, has created jobs for over 600 workers and livelihoods for thousands of farmers.
Every year, Thien Phuoc can supply over 2000 tons of green fiber to the market and 1400 tons of green fiber cotton by-products, meeting all market demands for various types, designs, and diverse components of different green fiber types.
